United Airlines: Bluetooth-enabled Seatback Entertainment Systems Implementation

By 2025, all United Airlines mainline aircraft will have a fully new interior. It will change the passenger’s experience significantly.

Background

United Airlines’ managing director issued a challenge to the passengers of his airlines back in 2014. He told them to speak out loud about bringing back in-flight entertainment screens.

Seven years later the complaints of United’s customers have been answered. Under a program named United Next, the carrier plans to completely overhaul its narrowbody aircraft, including the return of embedded screens as well as a slew of other passenger-experience enhancements.

What’s new?

Recently, United proudly announced a modern, rich with new features seatback entertainment system for customers to enjoy onboard, with more content and additional capabilities.

Every first-class seat will have a 13-inch HD screen. Every United economy seat will have a 10-inch HD screen.

Panasonic Avionics is delivering the Inflight Entertainment System, which includes Bluetooth audio capabilities so passengers can use their wireless headphones with the system. LED lighting, USB ports, and some other features are also included.

United recently placed its biggest-ever order for new planes, all of which will feature the new interior with seatback entertainment displays.
