Frida Kahlo is a well-known artist who has created over 100 paintings in her life. We can find her works in world museums and private collections around the world.


Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait “Diego y Yo” has earned a record $34.9 million at Sotheby’s yesterday. Also, Kahlo’s final self-portrait is one of the most mysterious and beautiful art pieces.

Eduardo Costantini, a collector who supports and promotes cultural and educational activities in Buenos Aires, purchased the artwork. According to Artnet News, this buy set a new high for the works of artists from Latin America.


Frida Kahlo painted “Diego y Yo” in 1949.  It shows the famous artist with Diego Rivera painted over her brows. In turn, Diego, her husband,  has a third eye painted on his forehead. Tears are rolling down Frida’s face.

This oil painting has a size of 29.5×22.4 cm. In addition, the place and the year of painting, are written in the upper corner in red together with the artist’s name. In fact, the style of the work is primitivism or naїve art.

Previously, the painting “Two Nudes in the Forest” was the most costly work by Frida Kahlo. Christie’s sold it for $ 8 million in 2016. Thus, Frida’s painting set a new record this year.
